Many of you who follow my training blog have asked me about joining my personal real estate team. For months now, I’ve been racking my brain, trying to think of a creative way to make that a reality. As many of you know, I’m not afraid to think outside the box. I agree with you, that putting together a national real estate team could be incredible! Imagine a real estate team with agents from all over the US and beyond. It could be awesome!

So how could we pull it off? Sure, our company is a pioneer in real estate virtual office technology which would make the interaction and management possible, but the real challenge to overcome was the jurisdictional issue. Every state has different rules and requirements, making working together-yet-apart a legal nightmare. And believe me, as much as I love you guys, I have no intention of ever getting a broker’s license in fifty states!

But, I thought, there had to be a way. It was just too good an idea. One day it finally hit me — we’re virtual, why don’t we just act like it? I don’t have to require my agents to leave their existing companies just to be a part of my team. I know that’s not a traditional way of looking at it, but think about it. Because of our virtual office infrastructure we can easily accommodate the logistics, and as far as the legalities, we will just leave those well enough alone. If the agent is legally practicing real estate wherever he or she lives, that’s good enough for me.

Here’s what I envisioned. I’d like to assemble a national — perhaps even an international team of great agents. It doesn’t really matter what brokerage they work for… think about it, at the end of the day, even on my team, they are really working for themselves. What I’m picturing is kind of like an Olympic team where players from colleges all over the nation are all on one elite team. They train together and they also train separately, but they are all part of that same team. Now imagine that for real estate.

Here’s what I was thinking. We could have weekly team meetings via conference calls or webinars. We’ll train together, and we will practice separately. And of course, all of my team will have direct access to me as their coach and team leader as well as access to our state-of-the-art agent productivity tools. Sadly, like any good team, not everyone will make the cut. I would like them to, but some are not going to have the skill, or more likely, the will to be a part.

But I believe that over a period of time, we can assemble an elite team of agents. And think about this — just being selected as part of this real estate “dream team” will be something you can leverage in your personal branding and advertising. Add to that the national media exposure many will receive for winning various team awards and our help in promoting each of you to our national audience as the exclusive professional you’ll be.

Add to that the national teamwork and camaraderie that will be a great experience for us all. Getting to know other team members from around the world that share a similar philosophy and standards. Wouldn’t it be nice to refer a client to someone across the continent or the world that you have a great relationship with, knowing that they will be treated just like you would treat them? How cool is that?!

So, why don’t you join my team? If you contacted me before, or if you are interested now but we never talked before, let’s discuss working together. I am interviewing agents to assemble my own “dream team” and I would love a chance for us to talk. It might be a good fit, and it might not. We’ll never know if we don’t talk.

This much I do know. For many of you, it will be what you wish you could get at your own local brokerage, but don’t. Come on… give me a call. Don’t be shy. I’m looking for the right connection, not just super-producer status, so don’t be afraid to call. I’ll even pay for the call, and you never know — it might be a perfect fit!

    • Last year the market was really at a very high peak and many people overpaid for houses. That is probably what you are seeing and you should look at what homes have sold for during the past 6 months and price your home in that range. Also, look at how many homes are on the market now and see if you are the best deal out there. There is not much you can do. If you overpriced your home from the begining then many buyers were not turned on initially from the price and most likely will not return.
