    Sacramento Memorial Day, a time to thank those you gave the ultimate sacrifice for all of us and say a little prayer for those you are fighting the battle today so that you can enjoy this holiday weekend with your family and know that you are safe.  Give a shout out to a Veteran today!

    As reported by the Sacramento Bee, here are the observances for Memorial Day.

    Carmichael – Memorial Day observance, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Earl J. Koobs Nature Area, 5325 Engle Road. Colors presents at 11 a.m.

    Citrus Heights – Service, 11 a.m., Sylvan Cemetery, 7401 Auburn Blvd. Procession of veterans begins at 10:30 a.m. Sponsored by American Legion Citrus Heights Posts 637 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 5991.

    Fair Oaks – 43rd annual Memorial Day tribute, 11 a.m., Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane. Guest speakers include Jon Cavaiani, congressional medal of honor recipient. Event includes a jet flyover, skydiver and music.

    Mather – Fourth annual Memorial Day celebration begins at 10 a.m. at Sacramento VA Medical Center Plaza, 10535 Hospital Way. Includes guest speakers National Guard Col. Dennis Sarkisian and Sgt. 1st Class Kelly Hughes. Sponsored by City of Rancho Cordova and Department of Veterans Affairs, Northern California Health Care System.

    North Highlands – 44th annual Memorial Day parade begins at 10 a.m. at I Street and Watt Avenue and concludes at A Street and Watt Avenue. Food and drinks follow. Sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4647.

    Placerville – Ceremony, 11 a.m., El Dorado County Veterans Monument, 360 Fair Lane. Speakers include retired U.S. Navy Reserve Lt. Cmdr. Theodore Robinson, who was part of the crew that rescued President John F. Kennedy when he served in the Navy in 1943. A lunch follows the ceremony at Sequoia Restaurant, 643 Bee St.

    Rocklin – Memorial Day program, 11 a.m., Veterans Memorial at Rocklin Cemetery, 4090 Kannasto Road. Whitney High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp. performs the flag ceremony. Sponsored by Rocklin American Legion Post 620 and Veterans of Foreign Wars

    Roseville – Roseville American Legion Post 169 hosts a remembrance ceremony at 11 a.m. at Roseville Community Cemetery, 421 Berry St. Following the ceremony, the public is asked to bring photos or memorabilia of family who served in war to share at a luncheon at the Roseville Veterans Memorial Hall, 110 Park Drive.

    Sacramento – Mexican-American Memorial Day ceremony, 1 p.m., 10th Street between L and N streets.

    Woodland – American Legion Post 77 presents a ceremony at 11 a.m. at Woodland Cemetery, 800 West St. Includes guest speaker Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena. A community lunch buffet follows at Post 77 hall, 523 Bush St.
