According to a survey last year by IPSOS Marketing and Media Survey the general business climate in the United States has taken a big turn in deciding how to allocate advertising dollars.  The survey indicated a major change in attitude resulting in some significant shifting of ad dollars from one sector to another reflecting new direction.

With a significant emphasis on new customer acquisition (63.2% Most Important) it is no surprise that there was an increased allocation in the budgeted dollars for online advertising in email, search and social media.  In addition it followed that display, direct mail and offline media reflected cuts by 20% to 35% of the companies surveyed.

The real estate industry is also undergoing a similar advertising shift reflecting the impact of the Internet and Social Media.

For information on where the majority of the industry is allocating its advertising dollars see the 2010 Swanepoel TRENDS Report (Trend #5 – Read All About It).  The Report looks at which media real estate professionals are moving away from and which ones have become the focus of their attention in the competition to find, attract and establish a relationship with today’s buyers and sellers.
