West Hartford’s Town Council approved a 3-acre site on Flatbush Avenue for the town’s first dog park.
The current owners, a business group made up of The Home Depot, Bjs and Aldis, has agreed to lease the unused parcel of land to the town. The West Hartford Dog Park Coalition, a group of residents, will maintain the property and raise funds for it’s operation.
The location is ideal - Connecticut Veterinary Center and Planet Bark are in the immediate area. It’s in an established business area where dog barking won’t be a nuisance to neighbors (unlike previous site at Fernridge Park). It’s also close to an area with a lot of apartments so tenants will have a great place to take their dogs.
